FAQ

General

Can I wear costumes and bring prop weapons, lightsabers and droids to the event?

You bet! We have specific permission from the venue for prop weapons, lightsabers and even droids! Attendees must practice safety and common sense and always be aware of the location of other nearby attendees when handling lightsabers. Droids must not damage the venue flooring.

Is this event youngling-friendly?

While younglings are allowed at this event, we want to be very upfront that the first-year of Halcy-Con has been designed with adult superfans in mind and expect that the finalized event schedule will reflect this. Children 6 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult with a paid badge. Ages 7 and up will need their own event badge to attend, and we ask that parents take an active role in monitoring their children’s activities. We will not be having a kids’ programming track nor designating any programming as specifically for children.

Are there any Halcy-Con events scheduled in Galaxy's Edge?

We scheduled Halcy-Con on Friday-Saturday to allow attendees a convenient park day on Sunday. Although it will not be an official Halcy-Con event, we are planning a Sunday, Oct 6 meetup in Galaxy’s Edge located in Disney Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. We hope to see you there!

Is this event endorsed or sponsored by Disney and/or Lucasfilm Ltd?

No, this is a purely fan-created event. It is not sponsored or endorsed by either Disney or Lucasfilm, Ltd.

Ticketing and Room Block

Will there be single-day or day-of-event badges available?

Halcy-Con is designed to be a 2-day unique boutique experience with a variety of different activities each day. We will not have single-day or day-of-event badges available for purchase.

Why only a three-week ticket buying window?

Because Halcy-Con is a very tailored, unique-boutique experience we need to take and review panel/exhibit/vendor/sponsor submissions quickly in order to craft the specific programming elements the badgeholders want most. In fairness, we need to be able to give those people wanting to participate an assurance that a sustainable amount of event support has been received before they commit to provide their time and talent. Quite simply, the number of badges that sell will help guide the type of programming we can deliver, and we need to know this early on.

How do the Venue Room Blocks work?

To be able to reserve a large amount of convention center space understandably requires the event managers to promise the venue hotel/resort that a certain number of rooms will be purchased by the attendees during the event. The hotel reserves a set number of rooms (a “room block”) per night, often at a discount. If the room block does not sell the minimum number of rooms, the event managers are responsible to pay for them. So it is highly important to an event team that as many attendees as possible also stay onsite at the venue.

What is the "Halcyon Homecoming" attendee mixer on Thurs Oct 3?

We are holding a pre-event “Halcyon Homecoming” evening mixer on Thursday, Oct 3 that is open to everyone that has booked a room in our special Halcy-Con room block for that night (Thursday, Oct 3). Room block reservations for a 1-King Bed room on 10/03 will receive 2 tickets to the mixer, room block reservations for a 2-Queen Beds room on 10/03 will receive 4 tickets to the mixer. Let’s get this party started early!

Can I cancel or transfer my event badge at a later date?

Funds received from badge sales are utilized for the production of the event. Badge sales cannot be refunded but can be transferred to another person before Sept 30, 2024 if your schedule changes.

Panels and Activities

This event is described as sandbox/playground style. What is that?

Unlike traditional convention events that feature a show schedule determined by the showrunners, the content at Halcy-Con is going to be determined and created BY the Starcruiser Superfan attendees, FOR the Starcruiser Superfan attendees. Shortly after badge sales end, all badgeholders will be able to submit proposals for panels, exhibits and events. These will be reviewed by the event team to assess feasibility and potential legal/safety issues. All viable proposals will then be voted on by the badgeholders to determine the event content. Let your imagination run wild!

How do I submit a panel or activity proposal for this event?

We are SO excited to give Starcruiser Superfans an opportunity to showcase their talents and passion at this event! Our current plan is to open up submissions to all badgeholding attendees on Feb 26, 2024 to host a panel, workshop, presentation, roundtable, or activity at Halcy-Con. Please read the Programming Guidelines for more details. We have already informally received so many fantastic event ideas and can’t wait to see what we all create together… AS ONE!

How are the event panels, exhibits and activities going to be selected?

Halcy-Con is BY Starcruiser Superfans, FOR Starcruiser Superfans! Submission for proposals are currently scheduled to open on February 26 through March 17, 2024. At that time they will be evaluated by the event team to determine their feasibility, safety and legality. All viable submissions will then be voted on by the event badgeholders to determine the final lineup! We currently anticipate the community vote happening in mid to late April.

Vendors and Artists

Will there be vendors, artists and exclusive merchandise at Halcy-Con?

You bet! We will have a vendor/artist space at the event. This will not be a huge show floor with random pop culture merch, but a highly focused selection of vendors and artists that feature Galactic Starcruiser or Galaxy’s Edge fan art and artifacts. We are making vendor/artist space available at a substantial discount over standard conventions but with one requirement: every vendor/artist at this event must produce at least one exclusive item that can only be purchased at Halcy-Con!

How do I apply for vendor space?

We are planning on accepting submissions for vendor/artist space in March. As this is a first-year event, we simply cannot predict the market support for a special event like this and feel it is imperative that we give vendors accurate attendee counts before approving applications. We are going to make vendor/artist space available at a notably lower cost than traditional conventions, but we have one requirement: all vendors/artists must produce at least one exclusive item that is only available for purchase at Halcy-Con.

Event Volunteers

I'd like to help, are you accepting event volunteers?

Absolutely! In the next few months we will be opening up submissions for attendees to volunteer a block of time to assist with event operations. If you volunteer a block of time to assist, you still must be a badgeholding attendee, but there will be some fun volunteer perks…come join the crew!
