Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions? We have answers. Well, some at least.

General

--
Can I wear costumes and bring prop weapons, lightsabers and droids to the event?

You bet! We have specific permission from the venue for prop weapons, lightsabers and even droids! Attendees must practice safety and common sense and always be aware of the location of other nearby attendees when handling lightsabers. Droids must not damage the venue flooring.

Is this event youngling-friendly?

While younglings are allowed at this event, Halcy-Con has been designed with adult superfans in mind. At this time, we do not anticipate having a specific kids’ programming track in 2025. Children 6 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult with a paid badge. Ages 7 and up will need their own event badge to attend. We ask that parents take an active role in monitoring their children’s activities and participation in Halcy-Con programming sessions.

Is this event endorsed or sponsored by Disney and/or Lucasfilm Ltd?

No, this is a purely fan-created event. It is not sponsored or endorsed by either The Walt Disney Company or Lucasfilm, Ltd.

Ticketing and Room Block

--
Will there be single-day or day-of-event badges available?

Halcy-Con is designed to be a multi-day unique boutique experience with a variety of different activities each day. We will not have single-day or day-of-event badges available for purchase.

Panels and Activities

--
This event is described as sandbox/playground style. What is that?

Unlike traditional convention events that feature a show schedule determined by the showrunners, the content at Halcy-Con is determined and created BY the Starcruiser Superfan attendees, FOR the Starcruiser Superfan attendees. Shortly after badge sales end, all badgeholders will be able to submit proposals for panels, exhibits and events. These will be reviewed by the event team to assess feasibility and potential legal/safety issues. We will then assemble a dazzling array of programming sessions for attendees to enjoy!

See our Sessions page for more on the types of programming we anticipate offering at Halcy-Con 2025 and our Programming Submission page for details on how to become a part of the action.

Vendors and Artists

--
Will there be vendors, artists and exclusive merchandise at Halcy-Con?

You bet! We will have a vendor/artist space at the event. This will not be a huge show floor with random pop culture merch, but a highly focused selection of vendors and artists that feature Galactic Starcruiser or Galaxy’s Edge fan art and artifacts.

How do I apply for vendor space?

We are planning on accepting submissions for vendor/artist space in Spring. We had an exceptional turn out for Ma’Li’s Marketplace in 2024 and expect Halcy-Con 2025 to be even better! And, like last year, all vendors/artists must produce at least one exclusive item that is only available for purchase at Halcy-Con.

Event Volunteers

--
I'd like to help, are you accepting event volunteers?

Absolutely! In the next few months we will be opening up submissions for attendees to volunteer a block of time to assist with event operations. If you volunteer a block of time to assist, you still must be a badge-holding attendee, but there will be some fun volunteer perks…come join the “Teal Team”!

Details will be posted as we get closer to the show.

The Crescent

--
What is The Crescent?

The Crescent is an orbital space station located in the Outer Rim, with a modular design allowing it to change as occupants come and go. Notable features include Ma’Li’s Marketplace, a traders’ den proffering a wide variety of goods; Crescent Station Lounge, an intimate parlor for relaxation – and perhaps deal-making and subterfuge; The Crescent Collection, exhibiting antiquities, oddities, curiosities, and delights from across the galaxy; and a central gathering space large enough to accommodate several hundred galactic travelers at once.
For a general introduction, see this video.

--
Okay, but what does that mean for Halcy-Con?

One of the top requests we heard after the 2024 event was “more immersive content” – and our wheels were already turning in that direction! The Crescent provides a narrative framework for Halcy-Con attendees who want to spend more time in-character and in-universe. We’re giving the convention itself a setting and a Star Wars alter ego, essentially. Some of this will be pure narrative flavor; some of this will influence the aesthetics of certain spaces within the convention; some of this will provide opportunities for in-character engagement, puzzle-solving, scavenger-hunting, and other game components.

--
So does that mean you’re re-creating the Starcruiser???

No. We are not Disney; we do not have Disney budgets; the convention still takes place inside of a Doubletree hotel that there is only so much we can do to transform. We intend to bring immersive environment elements into the space, but our larger focus is on the immersive story and the theater of the imagination.
Like Halcy-Con itself, The Crescent is a fan event not endorsed or sponsored by The Walt Disney Company or Lucasfilm, Ltd.

--
Is The Crescent a separately ticketed event or experience?

Nope! Everything to do with The Crescent at Halcy-Con 2025 is included with your badge.

--
Do I have to do Crescent-things at Halcy-Con?

Absolutely not! We’ll still be offering all the types of activities that we did in 2024: panels, presentations, workshops, opportunities to gather, merchants to buy from, and evening entertainment. Crescent-related elements will not affect regular programming.
Much like on the Starcruiser, you can also choose your level of engagement with The Crescent. Just want to vibe in the Crescent Station Lounge for a bit? Go forth and chill. Want to dabble in the activities but spend most of your time on other con things? You’ll have plenty to keep you occupied! Want to obsessively scrutinize every piece of pre-con information for clues and then fling yourself whole-bodied into the adventure? We heartily encourage you – and you’ll still have time to enjoy the rest of what Halcy-Con has to offer.
For more about how The Crescent will integrate with the rest of Halcy-Con, check out this interview with project lead Cass Morris.

Does this mean I can’t do my own immersive programming at Halcy-Con 2025?

Absolutely not! Our hope in creating The Crescent is to provide a framework that other stories can happen within or beside. If you are submitting immersive programming and would like it to take place on The Crescent, we love that idea, and our team will work with you to facilitate that. If you’re building something with an entirely different setting, we’ve got a handy narrative handwave for that, and you don’t need to worry about it!

--
Will engaging with The Crescent mean I have to miss other programming?

Nope! Without giving away too many details, we expect any large-scale story moments to occur during plenary events, during evening entertainment, and through digital communications. Small-scale story moments will be accessible in-between regular sessions.

Can I help?
