Programming at Halcy-Con
As a convention created by the fans, for the fans, and of the fans, Halcy-Con thrives on the creativity and passion of its community. In 2024, we were thrilled to offer everything from lightsaber training to interactive games to Q&As with professionals in the immersive entertainment industry. In 2025, we have one word for you: more!
Our larger facility will allow us to run more hours of programming throughout the con, and we’re relying on you to show off your creativity, expertise, and enthusiasm! You’ve had a year to think, dream, and imagine. Soon, it will be time to show us what you’ve got!
This spring, we will invite you to contribute to this vibrant event by submitting your ideas for discussions, presentations, and activities. Whether you’re a seasoned speaker or a first-time contributor, we want to hear from you! We were delighted that Halcy-Con 2024 gave some of our attendees their first chance to lead a workshop, moderate a panel, or share their fannish expertise, and we hope that 2025 will do the same, as well as welcoming back experienced presenters.
Check out our Sessions page for an overview of the types of programming that we’ll be featuring at Halcy-Con 2025.

Suggestion Box: 03/26 – 04/09
Unlike Halcy-Con 2024, we will not be doing a community vote for this year’s programming. We still want the community’s input to help shape our offerings, however, so that you can help craft the experience you want to attend!
This year, we’re opening the suggestion box ahead of proposal submissions. We’ll then share the insights we get from these suggestions with the community at-large, so that people interested in submitting programming proposals can be inspired and tailor their ideas – and perhaps someone who was feeling unsure about presenting will see that they can fill a niche the community craves.
So: If you really want more droid-related programming? This is your chance to tell us! More panels where makers discuss how they craft, cosplayers give tips, or chefs share recipes? Let us know! Wish you could watch a presentation on the biology and genetics of porgs? Hey, we can’t make any promises, but we’ll see if someone out there can make that dream come true! Don’t be afraid to be specific! “I really want to play dejarik” gives us – and the community who will be submitting programming proposals – more to work from than just “more games”.
(And – Yes, we know everyone wants more lightsaber training! Take that as a given. But if there’s a particular style or kind of class you’d be super-interested in, let us know that, too.)
This submission box will be open from Wednesday, 3/26 to Wednesday, 4/9.
Programming Considerations
As you start thinking about what you might want to submit for Halcy-Con 2025, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Our standard programming blocks are 50 minutes long, with 10 minutes in-between for clearing and resetting the space.
- Our conference center has a variety of room sizes: some will be more suitable for intimate conversations and experiences, while others will be set up for presentations or to allow for high-energy activities.
- One thing we know about Halcy-Con attendees? They love to do things! Active workshops and games were many of our most popular offerings in 2024, so we know they will be in high demand again this year.
- If we love your idea but have some questions about its capacity or its use of space, time, or resources, we may follow up with you to discuss options for altering it to work within our constraints.
If you have any questions or require clarification, please use the Contact Us form and select the “Sessions & Presenters Coordination” option.
